About
Hey! I'm Maxim Mower, and this is a site devoted to two of the most important things in life. Family and love, I hear you say? Chocolate and ice cream? Kim and Kanye?
I mean, some of those things are definitely more important than others...butttt I was thinking more along the lines of Music and Philosophy. Sounds deep, I know - but don't fret, we like to keep it light round here!
From experience I've found that too many 'higher' arts sites come across as aloof, and too many popular culture sites don't appreciate the music they're discussing enough, and instead focus on celebrities, gossip, etc.
Maximoco Review tries to strike a perfect balance.
Contemporary Music will be the centrepiece, but I will try my best to extend my critical microscope across all forms of Music. One of the greatest things I find about Music, is that it provides us with new perspectives and different angles from which we can look at life.
I will also be writing some Thought pieces inspired by the Music I listen to, that in turn I hope will inspire you to get involved in the discussion. You can either shoot me down in flames, or maybe - if I'm lucky - you might even agree with one or two of my sporadic musings.
One area of this blog I’m particularly proud of is the Self Help Songs series, in which look at various lyrics that can offer us ways of overcoming the obstacles we face. Our headphones are sometimes are only solace - so why not treat lyrics as we might treat a Self-Help book?
There will be album reviews, artist profiles, and plenty of hyping up new releases that I’ve no doubt gotten way too excited about!
I will also occasionally post my new music predictions for the week ahead, because for some reason I've been lucky quite a few times in the past! Or maybe it's not luck, and I'm really just a psychic. Or maybe I'm just a bit obsessed and read too much about music. Either way…
Welcome to my blog!
Subscribe now to be the first to read the latest posts, and feel free to comment, like and share as much as you want :)
I look forward to hearing your thoughts on my thoughts!
Yours sincerely, but not too seriously,
Max.i'm
